Chapter 10 - The Heir to the Empire

Two months later, on a crisp, bright spring morning, the private wing of the Moretti estate echoed with the sweetest sound it had ever known—the soft, healthy cry of a newborn infant.

The birth had been fast, safe, and handled by the finest private medical specialists flown in directly from Boston.

In the sunlit master bedroom, Elena propped herself up against the embroidered pillows, her face pale but glowing with an incandescent joy. Cradled securely in her arms was a tiny, perfect baby boy with a full head of dark hair and tiny fingers wrapped tightly around her thumb.

Alessandro stood beside the bed, staring down at his son with an expression of sheer, unfiltered awe. The ruthless mafia boss, the cold corporate titan who had terrified boardrooms and enemies across the country, looked utterly melted by the small, breathing miracle resting against the woman he loved.

"He has your eyes," Alessandro whispered, his voice thick with emotion as he gently brushed his finger against the baby’s tiny cheek.

"And your stubborn chin," Elena smiled, looking up at him with sleepy, contented eyes.

Alessandro leaned down, pressing a long, tender kiss to Elena’s forehead, then lightly kissed the top of his son’s head.

"What are we going to name him, Elena?" Alessandro asked softly.

Elena looked down at the baby, thinking of the long, winding road that had brought her through the iron gates, past the cold marble floors, through the pain and the shadow, right into the warmth of a home that was finally, truly hers.

"Victor," Elena said, her voice steady and clear, honoring the father who had taught her survival and the strength that lived in her blood. "Victor Moretti."

Alessandro smiled, the last lingering shadows of his past finally dissolving away into the morning light.

"Victor," Alessandro repeated, nodding slowly. "A name that survives everything."

Downstairs, the grand foyer was flooded with golden sunlight, the polished marble floors reflecting the bright new day. The iron gates were open wide, the estate at peace, guarding a family that could never be broken again.
