Chapter 9 - The Settlement

While peace settled over the northern estate, the outer world continued to turn, bound by the ruthless laws of business and retribution.
Signora Moretti and Bianca made three separate attempts through high-priced divorce and estate attorneys to challenge Alessandro’s asset freeze, claiming emotional abuse and financial sabotage. They drafted formal legal notices threatening public scandals, leaking fabricated stories to local tabloids about the mafia boss who had disowned his own family for a maid.
Alessandro didn't even dignify the legal threats with a personal phone call. He simply instructed his chief legal counsel to hand-deliver a single document to their attorneys: a complete, unredacted financial audit detailing every fraudulent embezzlement scheme, offshore tax evasion account, and unauthorized property purchase Signora Moretti had secretly executed behind his back over the preceding decade.
Attached to the audit was a handwritten note from Alessandro:
“You have twenty-four hours to drop the lawsuit, sign the permanent nondisclosure agreement, and accept the municipal allowance. Otherwise, the federal prosecutor’s office receives the unredacted files by Monday morning. Choose wisely.”
The lawsuit was dropped within two hours.

The threats evaporated into thin air. From that day forward, the matriarch and her disgraced daughter remained permanently invisible, exiled to the dusty corners of upstate New York, reduced to footnotes in the history of a family they had nearly destroyed through their own arrogance.
Inside the Moretti estate, nobody ever spoke their names again. They didn't need to. The past was dead, buried under the heavy winter snow, replaced by a new era built on truth, protection, and unconditional loyalty.
