Chapter 5 - DAWN OF A NEW EMPIRE

Two months later, the storm outside the Long Island mansion was just a gentle autumn breeze.

The underground wars had been settled with ruthless, absolute finality. The rival families who had dared test the Russo name were either imprisoned or buried, and the city’s underworld bowed lower than ever before. But inside the mansion, the atmosphere had undergone a radical transformation.

In the sunlit kitchen, Beatrice Gallagher stood by the stove—not wearing oversized cardigans or hiding in the shadows, but wearing a soft cream dress, her dark curls cascading freely down her back.

She was humming softly, swaying to a gentle melody playing from the speakers, when strong arms wrapped around her waist from behind. A warm chin rested comfortably on her shoulder.

“You’re dancing again,” Dominic murmured, pressing a soft kiss to the side of her neck.

Bea smiled, leaning back into his embrace as she turned off the stove. “I’m allowed. It’s my kitchen, after all.”

“It’s our house,” Dominic corrected quietly, turning her around in his arms so he could look down into her radiant face. The cold, ruthless mob boss from Brooklyn existed only in the shadows now; here, with her and with little Leo—who was currently outside chasing the dog with a bright, genuine laugh—he was simply a man who had found his redemption.

“Mrs. Bell still glares at me when she passes the hallway,” Bea teased lightly, though her eyes danced with happiness.

“Mrs. Bell knows her place,” Dominic replied dryly, before his expression softened. He reached up, gently tracing the line of her cheekbone. “And you know yours. Right here. Where you’ve always belonged.”

Bea pulled him down into a deep, tender kiss, knowing that the dark, lonely nights of her past were gone forever. She was no longer the invisible maid hiding in the margins; she was the heart of the Russo empire, cherished and protected for eternity.
