Chapter 5 - THE DAWN OF A NEW EMPIRE

Three months later, the spring sun broke warmly over the eastern harbor of Boston, casting bright, shimmering reflections across the glassy surface of the water where my container ships sailed in and out without interruption.

The Castellano empire was stronger than it had ever been. The traitors were locked away, the medical hoax was a distant memory, and my health had returned with a vengeance. I was back in the boardroom, back on the docks, and back in absolute control.

But the mansion on the hill was no longer a cold, silent fortress of shadows.

It was a home.

On a bright Saturday afternoon, I sat on the stone patio overlooking the manicured gardens. The scent of blooming lilacs drifted on the breeze.

Elena stood nearby, pouring fresh lemonade into crystal glasses, her laughter mingling softly with the ambient sounds of the estate. And out on the lawn, little Giulia was running through the grass, chasing a golden retriever we had recently adopted, her red scarf trailing behind her like a banner of victory.

My phone buzzed on the table. It was Vance, calling with a routine update on harbor security.

I glanced at the screen, silenced the ringer, and set the phone back down. Some things could wait.

I looked back out across the lawn as Giulia stopped running, turned around, and pointed directly at me with a playful grin, pretending to fire an imaginary arrow straight into my heart.

I smiled back, raising my lemonade glass in a silent toast to the small, fearless girl who had knocked three times on a locked door and saved a fallen king.
